California's Longest Zip Line Opens in SoCal

A courtesy photo from La Jolla Zip Zoom of their zip line, which goes through parts of the La Jolla Indian Reservation.
If you have the guts and the time, what is believed to be California’s longest zip line opened at the La Jolla Indian Reservation Friday.
Riders will coast through 1.25 miles of mountains, tree tops, canyons, valleys and the San Luis Rey River at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour.
The ride, located northeast of San Diego, will be an added attraction to the reservation's popular campground, which draws more than 120,0000 people annually, according to Tribal Vice Chairman Fred Nelson.
The zip line was built with the help of part of $1.8 million in federal economic grant money that came on the heels of several disasters in the area. The tribe also contributed $200,000.
Officials say if the zip line is a success, it could bring in enough revenue to build new cabins in the area and eventually a casino.
The reservation, home to most of the tribe’s members, collects no gaming revenue and has been declared a disaster area three times in the last eight years after a devastating fire, mudslides and flooding.
The zip line offers four separate rides broken up by a nature hike as well as cultural and nature lessons. The whole journey takes roughly two and a half hours to complete.
The cost is $99 per rider, $75 for returning campers. Participants must be 48 inches or taller and weigh between 65 and 275 pounds in order to ride. Reservations are required and can be made by clicking here. Source===NBC====

+18+Don't watch this realistic Mortal Kombat fatalities video during lunchtime

Oh … oh my. Oh my word. The Mortal Kombat series - and Mortal Kombat X in particular - features some pretty graphic violence with over-the-top X-Ray attacks and vicious fatalities, but there's a reason these things should exist only in video game land; seeing them in real life is enough to make you more than a little queasy. Still, if you think you've got the stomach for it, YouTube channel RackaRacka has crafted a video showing what some realistic fatalities would look like:
Props to the filmmakers for their great special and practical effects, as well as camera work that perfectly captures the brutality of Mortal Kombat. The humor throughout ("I'll fatality you bro!") and creativity in their kills was also admirable. Personally, I quite enjoyed the "man gets beat to death with his own entrails." Anyway, enjoy your lunch!

Sony's Metal Gear Solid Walkman is a truly tasteful video game tie-in

In celebration of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Sony has released a bunch of Phantom Pain-branded electronics, including a new version of its high-fidelity Walkman, the super-expensive ZX2. The customized music player is listed for ¥140,000 on Sony's site (that's around $1,126 — the same as a normal ZX2), and has the game's title stamped on the front. It also comes with a leather case branded with the logo of the game's Outer Heaven mercenary group, as well as four pre-installed Phantom Pain wallpapers, a handful of HD Metal Gear songs, and original packaging.

The Phantom Pain-branded NX2 and NW-A16 MP3 players. (Sony / Konami) If luxury MP3 players aren't your thing though, Sony is also offering similarly-branded Xperia Z4 and Z3 Compact tablets, as well as a special edition J1 Compact smartphone and a less-pricey NW-A16 Walkman. All of these come with similar perks to the ZX2, including Outer Heaven branding (either on the rear of the device in the case of the NW-A16 and J1 Compact, or on limited edition cases for the tablets), pre-loaded wallpapers, and a handful of HD tracks.Source==

‘Realistic’ Mortal Kombat Fatalities Are Pretty Sick

‘Realistic’ Mortal Kombat Fatalities Are Pretty Sick
After years of watching and playing Mortal Kombat, it’s rare to see a fatality that makes me go ‘holy shit.’ Most of them try a little too hard. Somehow, though, these folks have found a way to make fatalities shocking again.
RackaRacka took it upon themselves to show us what some fatalities would look like in real life, and it’s the most gruesome thing I’ve seen in ages. Seriously—I had to pause this video a couple of times, because the gore was almost too much. It’s some Saw-level stuff. You’ve been warned!souce===KOTAKU+++
